A trio of instrumental music suspended between post-metal, post-rock, stoner elements and a cosmic vision of sound that leads them to explore, with the forward direction constantly engaged. The trio does something new with their music, in an era where everyone is shouting, writing or photographing their own superiority, Najing communicate so much through a type of music that seemed lost, but is still present and here it is at its best.

The sound textures are finely twisted, like impetuous paths leading to plateaus from where beautiful vistas unfold, melodies that get inside you and make you feel good. This album possesses many qualities, but it is also and above all a therapeutic album, its listening makes you feel better by taking you far away, because the band’s sound solutions are truly remarkable and often surprise you.

We are in the vicinity of Isis, Pelican and all those bands that call themselves post-metal and post-rock, but are actually part of the varied and wide-ranging progressive family, a progressive in the modern sense, heavy and noisy but always forward.

Nautha

Nautha’s music is a sonic caress, it cradles the listener and just like the album cover turns its gaze towards the sky, never forgetting planet earth, and our feet on it.

Another record by Argonauta Records, they are Nautha the record is titled “Metempsychosis” and it is their second record release, after “Tutti i colori del buio” in 2018, a remarkable tribute record to the unrepeatable season of Italian prog, one of the best musical moments ever had in our country.

Nautha continue their musical evolution that is taking them far, in the lyrics they change language from Italian to English and in the music they change many things. Right from the single “Cerbero” it is immediately clear that the Roman trio plays a musical formula that includes many things within it, starting with the aforementioned prog, passing through post-metal and even a special taste for grunge. Compared to the debut album, the sounds are fuller, better produced and concatenated in a different way. Nautha’s music is a sonic caress, it cradles the listener and just like the album cover turns its gaze towards the sky, never forgetting planet earth, and our feet on it.

Nautha remain, however, a progressive band, a musical sentiment that we find here in many of its forms, including that of kraut rock and kosmische, all cut to their musical cloth.

There are many themes within this music that lifts the spirit and soul, and in this day and age something so polished is necessary, for this is a record that has a conception of music made for constant improvement.

Le Scimmie 

Their Adriatic stoner takes its cues from the greats of the genre, and the names are always those you all listen to and love, but here they take an original and very fruitful route.

Noisy return of the Monkeys, a stoner duo from Vasto, with the programmatic title of ‘Adriatic desert’, out on Frekete! Records.

The two Abruzzese have long been dedicated to the abuse of noisy notes, low chords and devastating riffs and this record is toxic in the sense that their songs are dragging and you can’t do without them. Their Adriatic stoner takes its cues from the greats of the genre, and the names are always those you all listen to and love, but here they take an original and very fruitful route.

The songs, as is their custom, are all instrumental, and there are no fillers or things badly done, the head goes up and down at every moment of the disc, and Le Scimmie confirm their full value, seven years after the previous ‘Colostrum’. Angelo ‘Xunah’ Mirolli’s creature was born in 2007 in Vasto, in the province of Chieti, and year after year has grown in size, with several experiences abroad, especially in the tormented Ukraine. Their sound expresses power, distortion but also melody, falling into that category of heavy psych in which there is definitely the stoner that is their trademark, but also much more. Making thick instrumental music while keeping the listener’s interest high is not something every band can do, and Le Scimmie always manage to do it.

To listen to ‘Adriatic desert’ is to venture into a practically new space, where everything is to be discovered through sounds. Mirolli is a continuous forge of distorted riffs, an avalanche of sounds that grind neurons, while Marco D’Aulerio’s drums hold up the whole structure.

A powerful and very deserted work for a band that is now a classic of Italian stoner.
