Interview with Claudia Balla

Talking to a talented artist like Claudia Balla is always a pleasure, and it is even more pleasant to discover her music. Claudia is her own doctor in everyday life, and singing for her is a cathartic experience, and with her music and voice she takes the listener to a dimension other than reality, with some dark overtones. We thank her for responding and for her availability, and we also thank Péter Kedves for making this interview available.

Hello Claudia can you tell us your musical history ?

Hey, thank you so much for being interested in my work, I appreciate it! Ive been writing songs since I was eight, its my biggest passion and also my therapy. I love telling a story and to express my deepest desires, secrets, fears and emotions in the form of a track.

What are your musical influences ?

I grew up listening to classical music and had a classical training in piano and voice. As an adolescent, I discovered contemporary pop and got hooked – I loved the early records of Avril Lavigne which inspired me to continue writing songs. Lately, I mostly listen to Bob Dylan.

“Normal people “ is a song about us, can you explain it ?

I believe we all feel the pressure of having to align to certain ideals that are celebrated on social media, constantly redefining and questioning what normalcyactually is or should be like. It can be a challenge to stay true to our values while having to deal with the fear of being severely judged or humiliated.

What do you think about music industry on these times ?

I guess the music scene has become more accessible for a wider public, almost anyone can put out a song without needing high tech gear, a professional studio, an agent or a label. But this doesnt mean that its easier to get noticed. I also believe that the market is becoming more fragmented despite the possibility of reaching a global audience, there are less household namesbut more niche artists.

Music is your only job ?

If only it were 🙂 No, Im a doctor during the day.

You have a wonderful dark vibe in your music and in your vocals, where it comes from ?

Thank you so much, I guess from my dark and twisted little soul? 🙂

Future projects ?

I have some singles in the pipeline and Im always working on new stuff.

Thanks a lot

Thank you for your time!
