A non-conformist musical object, a nice, dark, underground record.
New ep for the German band Andabata entitled ‘Hirnfresser’, self-produced. Anndabata is a duo formed by Sabine Landsberg and Carsten Lutter and plays a very peculiar balck death metal that is not easily heard. The two members play all the instruments, and do so in a minimal and unconventional way.
Andabata’s sound is a minimal, angry and rotten black death that digs deep, made by lovers of these sounds who have been carrying on a certain discourse in the extreme music underground for years.
“Hirnfresser” is not a record for everyone, not even for all lovers of black death done cleanly and technically, here there are growls, lowered guitar runs and almost techno drums. The duo takes us on a descent made up of pieces that sometimes come close to dissonance and are really interesting. In this record there is never anything obvious or easy, it is a difficult listen in some passages but one that will appeal to those looking for something really special and special, made by people much closer to the listener than many others.
The singing is almost all in German, minus one piece in saarländisch, as Germany has a myriad of very old dialects like this one that Andabata set to music. The tracks are just the right length to appreciate their minimalism and the uncommon musical research behind them, making this ep a splinter that will make us bleed. The progression of this epe is like that of a horror story about depravity, death, cannibals and other amenities that are however less terrible than everyday life.
A non-conformist musical object, a nice, dark, underground record.
