A great record for one of the best American bands of recent years.
Ancient Vvisdom is a band that will take you to peer into the abyss we do not see, a cursed duo that writes damned music that damnes for its beauty and perpetual perdition. After the 2019 album “Mundus” Nathan Opposition and Michael Jochum return with their unfogettable brand of occult hard rock with beautiful melodies and blood pulsing for Satan. Our folks in just a few years have distinguished themselves as one of the most original bands out there, with their music gushing wildly and without genre fences, free to corrupt and never leaving one indifferent.
Their hard rock is something unbelievable, it is a rushing stream and at the same time it seems to speak only to you and no one else, just as a demon would in an attempt to take you into its legions.
Musically, the duo has abandoned their initial atmospheres to concentrate on the great work of proposing a genuinely American hard rock with many heavy and doom influences, a concentrate of powerful riffs and a voice that is always melodic, crossing compositions now of American gothic, now of proximity to a certain neofolk such as that of King Dude.
With ‘Master of the stone’ on the Italian Argonauta Records, Ancient Vvisdom pack a record that works beautifully from the first to the last second, balanced, ethereal when it needs to be and magnificently hard & heavy at other times. Recorded in Cleveland at Mercinary Studios by Noad of Nunslaughter, another remarkable band, ours confirms the good work done so far and surpasses itself abundantly.
The duo’s statements regarding the recording sessions of the album are enthusiastic, Nathan and Michael felt that everything was coming together and that something important was being born. The guests also contributed remarkably, starting with the guitar solo in ‘Ashes from on high’ by Vanek of Midnight, to Matt Sorg of Ringoworm and Shed The Skin and Noah himself. The result is a record that warms the heart, a delving into the path of the left hand with remarkable and highly enjoyable hard & heavy, for a demonic pact that is well worth the effort.
A very good production, cover art that introduces the subject matter very well, in short, a great record for one of the best American bands of recent years.
