Old Town Crier’s “A Night With Old Town Crier” is a live album that delivers an electrifying blend of classic blues with a boogie woogie twist. It is filled with catchy choruses, upbeat shuffles, and soulful melodies.
This is singer/songwriter Jim Lough’s first full length album of unreleased songs from his live performance February 5, 2022, at The Fallout Shelter in Norwood, MA. The album features Garrett Jones on guitar, Alex Bilodeau on bass, JennHwan Wong on keys, Avery Logan playing the drums, and Stephen Byth on saxophone.
Half of all proceeds will go to The Pine Street Inn, a charity which combats homelessness in Boston, Massachusetts.
“At the time, my brother was working at the Pine Street Inn. Boston was, and is, experiencing a homelessness crisis, so I thought that Pine Street would be an excellent choice to donate to,” stated frontman Jim Lough.
“I’ll Find a Way” kicks off with an energetic buildup that leads the listener to a melodic chorus. The upbeat percussion and classic blues riffs give this song a lively and dynamic feel.
“Burning All Night” stands out with its harmonies and various breaks that keep the listener engaged. This track reminds me of the wonderful 90’s alternative rock!
The album reaches its peak with “Everybody Somebody’s Baby,” a high-energy track that leaves another nostalgic impression. Old Town Crier’s adeptness at blending heartfelt lyrics with upbeat music shines through in this track, making it a perfect closer.
“A Night With Old Town Crier” houses eight tracks that capture the musicians energy and Lough’s vocals superbly. It is truly an enjoyable, positive, and relaxing album to listen to.
